Goalkeeper warming up; individually or with the team

The warming up before a goalie training session can be with the whole team, or with the goalkeeper trainer.
During the warming up, at the beginning of an individual goalie training session, goalies can warm up their body, while also directly starting to work on specific goalkeeping skills.

For example; technical aspects of goalkeeping and footwork.
In this way, you are accomplishing two things at once:

  1. warming up the body
  2. improving goalkeeper skills.

With www.keeperstrainer.com/en/ you can select the warming up you would like to use and add it to your training plan.
You can choose warm up activities whereby you can use equipment or use more specific goalkeeper activities.
Just what you, as the goalie coach, feel is important at that moment for your goalkeepers.
If, for example, you want to put more emphasis on footwork, you can select the skill ‘footwork.’

Why a proper goalie warming up?

To prevent injuries, the body of the goalkeeper must be warmed up properly. A soccer goalie uses almost all muscles in the body during a goalie training session. A series of ‘easy catches’ at the beginning of practice, will also get the goalie ready to make the big saves later on.

The goalkeeper can (partly) join the team as they warm up, because many parts of a team warming up are also good for the goalkeeper. Footwork and agility, for example, are important for both the field player and the goalkeeper. The goalie can start with the team and finish the warming up separately with the goalie coach and the other goalkeepers.
